This is an introductory course for non-art majors that explores the relationship between visual elements and aesthetic experience. Specific emphasis will be placed on the history and importance of art in ancient times as well as its impact on modern cultures. This is both a lecture and art studio course exploring the elements of visual language, their nature, functions, and relationships in the visual arts. Focus is on the development and application of both critical thinking and hands on creative skills. This course also explores aspects and issues related to experiencing art first hand and will engage the people and places where this happens.

This course is designed for students studying Russian history. While it is aimed at British students working towards an examination, the content is suitable for any class studying the subject. This course is offered via Moodle, our Learning Management System (LMS).
